Kansas
Washington County, Kansas’s quilt square highlights both local identity and national heritage. The outline of the state emphasizes the county’s place within Kansas, while the profile of George Washington reflects the county’s namesake and a broader connection to American history. Established in 1857, Washington County has a strong farming tradition, particularly in grain production. Fun fact: its county seat is also named “Washington”.
This quilt square was submitted by Ryan Kern, Washington County Economic Development and Tourism Director.
