Iowa

In Washington County, Iowa, corn production is a defining feature, where much of the landscape is devoted to row-crop agriculture. Generations of local farmers have relied on corn as a primary crop, making it central to the county’s economy and rural identity. From seasonal rhythms of planting and harvest to local grain markets and agribusiness, corn is deeply woven into the community’s daily life and long-term sustainability.

This quilt block was designed by Benna Goode, who is the leader in the Washington County Iowa 4-H quilting group.
