In 2025, Tim Reavis road tripped from Fayetteville, Arkansas, to the Outer Banks in North Carolina for the July 4th holiday. On the way there he noticed he went through Washington County Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina, which made him wonder how many Washington Counties there were in the U.S., and also what they might be doing for the next July 4th holiday, the Semiquincentennial. Tim, who is neither a historian nor a quilter, reached out to all 31 counties to see what ideas people had for a commemorative celebration of all that makes our counties (and parish!) unique.
In response, numerous people gave their time and talent to create 29 quilt squares. Each is a celebration of what makes the county and the people within it special.
