Washingtons Unite

Utah

Washington County, UT, the most southwestern county in the beehive state. Cotton was grown in Washington county and families from Dixie were brought here to teach how to grow the cotton, thus the name of dixie was given to Washington County.

Washington County, UT is home to Zion National Park. It is represented by the dark red mesas in the foreground. Up on top of the hurricane cliffs, the mesas around Apple Valley were the inspiration for the red rock mesas in the block.

The quilt block was designed by Tammy Salzman, Valor Quilters of Southern Utah and submitted by Teresa Orton of the Washington County Historical Society.
