Maine
Washington County Maine is the easternmost point in the 48 contiguous United States. It is called the “Sunrise County” because it is where the sun first appears to rise over the mainland each day.
Washington County consistently ranks among the highest number of pounds (121 million pounds) of lobster landed each year. The county has 5 lighthouses. Blueberries play an important part in the life of the Mainers living in Washington County. It has 20,000 to 23,000 acres of wild blueberries and produces 85% of the world’s wild blueberries.
