Washingtons Unite

Colorado

Celebrating 250 years as America and 150 years as Colorado as a State, with Washington County celebrating 139 years as a county in Colorado.

Representing the topography and geological history of the county is the land formation of Fremont Butte and Chair. Domesticated cattle living off the short grass prairie helped to sustain and develop agriculture from early settlers through present day. Wildlife such as deer roamed the vast open spaces through the evolution of production agriculture. The primary dryland crops historically grown in the high desert region is hard red winter wheat. The county, in 1887, was named in honor of the President George Washington with the courthouse serving as the center of recording and transacting legal documents affecting property within the county.

The quilt was sewn by Julie Foy of Otis, Colorado.
